The Disney+ Star Wars series is an American space western television series, which was created by Jon Favreau for the Disney+ streaming service. The show premiered in November 2019, receiving high critical acclaim and won multiple awards for its debut season.
Beginning five years after the events of Star Wars: Episode VI - Return Of The Jedi, this fan-favorite series fills in the gaps between the original trilogy and the sequels (VII-IX).
The series follows a stoic masked bounty hunter called Din Djarin (played by Pedro Pascal). Mando is sent to recover a bounty on a remote desert planet, as requested by the Empire. However, he finds himself responsible for the protection of a small helpless creature, which we've come to know as Baby Yoda (or Grogu, as Ahsoka Tano revealed in season two). The child is of the same species as Jedi Master Yoda and we have since discovered that he was raised in the temple on Coruscant. He commits his life to protect the innocent child from those who were sent to hunt him down. Din Djarin wears his distinctive beskar'gam traditional armor, which was worn by warrior clans of the planet Mandalore. The armor traits include T-shaped visors to conceal their face and various weapons placed on their person. Typically made of beskar, we get to see the use of this strong metal throughout the series. Not only can it protect Mando from blaster shots, but it also can protect him from lightsabers.
