The bounty hunter originally appeared in the Star Wars Holiday Special in 1978 before making his theatrical debut in 1980 with the release of Star Wars V: The Empire Strikes Back. Ever since his brief appearance in the film, his popularity skyrocketed. Being a supporting antagonist for the crime lord Jabba The Hut, he also appeared in the final instalment of the original trilogy, Star Wars VI: Return Of The Jedi (1983). With his recognizable armor known as Mandalorian armor, these are traditionally worn by the warrior clans of the planet Mandalore. In Boba's case, he has inherited his armor from his father Jango Fett, who died during the first battle of the Clone Wars. Although he is not a Mandalorian, he dons the armor and follows in his father's footsteps.
His last appearance in the Star Wars movie saga was in Star Wars: Episode II: Attack Of The Clones in 2002, depicted as a child and sidekick to his father Jango Fett.
However, the beloved character was resurrected in the second season of Lucasfilm’s The Mandalorian, revealing in its end credits the announcement of The Book Of Boba Fett. If you were anything like us, it felt like Christmas arrived early!
Released in 2021 on Disney+, the premise follows the eponymous character and Fennec Shand attempting to grow an empire in the underground world of Tatooine by taking over the territory once controlled by infamous leader Jabba The Hut. Taking place after the events of Return Of The Jedi, throughout the series we get to see the bounty hunter recover his armour, ship, and his legacy. Crossing over with characters Din Djarin, Grogu, Cobb Vanth, and Ahsoka, it treats the old-school Star Wars fans with flashbacks to how he survived his fall into the Sarlacc pit in Return Of The Jedi, quotes about his time with the Empire, and an epic cameo of Luke Skywalker.
